TIDE Writing Strategy

This document is an anchor chart explaining the TIDE Writing Strategy, a framework used to help students structure a strong paragraph, particularly for text-based analysis or informative writing. The acronym TIDE outlines four essential components. T stands for Topic Sentence, which clearly states the main idea of the paragraph. I stands for Important Details, which are the reasons or facts that support the topic sentence. D stands for Detailed Explanation, where the student explains or elaborates on the important details with evidence, examples, or textual citations. Finally, E stands for Ending Sentence, which is the concluding sentence that wraps up the paragraph by summarizing the main idea. This structure ensures that a student’s paragraph is focused, well-supported, and complete.
